In the world of 3D printing, the Z-axis is the crucial pillar for consistent, flawless layer quality. A quality coupling is the underrated component that connects the stepper motor , which usually has a 5mm shaft, to the leadscrew , which is commonly 8mm in diameter (such as T8 rods).
This coupling is specifically designed to create precise rotational force transfer while neutralizing slight misalignment between the axes. In doing so, it prevents the infamous ” Z-Wobble ” phenomenon, which causes wavy and jagged distortions on the sides of the printed model.
